Q: How long has ecomate® been in existence?

The molecule that makes up ecomate is a naturally occurring substance. Ecomate®, as a blowing agent, has been in commercial use since 2002.

Q: Is ecomate® an Acid, a CFC, HCFC, HFC or Hydrocarbon?

No

Q: Does ecomate® have a GWP (Global Warming Potential) or contribute to Global Warming?

Ecomate® has a GWP of zero and does not contribute to Global Warming of the Earth

Q: Does ecomate® have an ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) or contribute to Ozone Depletion?

Ecomate® has an ODP of zero and does not contribute to the depletion of the Earth's Ozone Layer.

Q: Is ecomate® a VOC (Volatile Organic Compound / Smog)?

No. Ecomate® was granted VOC_Exempt status in October 2004. The EPA's Final Rule was published in November 2004.

Q: Does ecomate® satisfy the requirements to be Montreal Protocol compliant?

Yes

Q: Does ecomate® satisfy the requirements to be Kyoto Protocol compliant?

Yes

Q: Is ecomate® SNAP approved?

Yes, ecomate® is RoHS and WEEE compliant.

Q: Is ecomate® slated to be phased out?

Unlike other blowing agents, ecomate® is the only thermally efficient blowing agent that is not currently on a "hit list," similar to the Montreal and Kyoto Protocols, to be phased out.

Q: Is ecomate® safe?

Yes

Q: Does ecomate® have high emissions?

No. Worst case scenario tested at 23ppm (parts per million).

Q: Are ecomate® systems flammable?

Ecomate® systems are rated "combustible" just like 141b systems under U.S. Federal Regulations. Ecomate® systems are "non-rated" according to EU Regulations.
